During my first year or two as a speech/language pathologist for the public schools, I put together a simple book explaining basic facts about St. Patrick's Day, to go along with some related activities I had planned.

I expanded a little beyond the above information, but didn't get too detailed because the kids were young and any discussion of something even vaguely religious at school is a bit of a tricky area... When the big take away from the book for most of my students was that Jesus chased the snakes out of Iowa--I decided to take a different route in my approach to the topic.
I wrote the following book, simply entitled "The Leprechaun Story" to casually introduce some vocabulary related to St. Patrick's day and to work on skills like answering "WH" questions, retelling stories, and higher level stuff, like making inferences and predictions. I'm not exactly sure when it was written--but I do know that it was put together frantically before school on the morning of one St. Patrick's Day, sometime between 2004 and 2008...
