Turkey, Turkey

I wrote and illustrated the following story in November 2012 to introduce Thanksgiving food vocabulary to a special needs preschool class I was working with at the time.

Turkey, Turkey

Turkey, Turkey
Where are you?
I need you in my turkey stew...

Is that you? Behind the gate?

No...sweet potatoes on a plate.

Is that you, Turkey? In that hole?

No...mashed potatoes in a bowl.

Is that you, Turkey? Way up high?

No...a piece of pumpkin pie.

In the wagon? Is that you?

No...it's stuffing (gravy, too).

Turkey, well... You must be lost...

But I just found... Cranberry sauce!

My plate is FULL of food to eat!
I don't need any turkey meat!

I just ate so much good stuff!
I don't need more--I've had enough!

Still no turkey. Not a peep.
Oh well. I'm full. I'm going to sleep.
(BUT WAIT...)

THE END.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
